Betty Perkins is chatting with WPT Royal Flush Crewmember Ivy Teves in between hands, and when another player at the table asks why Perkins is receiving special treatment, Ivy says she’s giving her good luck. Perkins asks Ivy to touch her shoulders to officially transfer the luck, and Ivy obliges.

The cards are dealt out for the next hand, and Perkins limps from middle position for 600. The hijack also limps, the small blind completes, and the big blind checks his option.

The flop comes Spade KClub KDiamond 10, the blinds check, and Perkins moves all in for about 10,000. Everyone else folds, and Perkins gives Ivy a high five as she takes the pot.

Teves is still behind Perkins when she moves all in from UTG+1 the next hand for 12,900, and the player in the hijack calls.

Perkins turns over Spade 9Heart 9, and she needs her hand to hold to stay alive against the hijack’s Diamond AClub 7.

The flop comes Club 9Heart 6Spade 2, giving Perkins a huge lead with a set of nines. The turn card is the Heart 3, which clinches the hand for Perkins, who turns to celebrate with Ivy.

The meaningless river card pairs the board with the Spade 6, giving Perkins a full house, nines full of sixes. But since her back is turned, WPT Champions Club member James Calderaro decides to tease Perkins by saying, “Oh no, he made a straight!”

Perkins quickly jerks back around to look at the board, and it takes her a moment to realize that Calderaro is joking. (Calderaro has been in a great mood and joking with the table most of the day.) Perkins smiles as she pulls in the pot for the double-up, and gets a congratulatory hug from Ivy.
