Big Stories

Mar 31, 2007

OK, a quick re-hash of the stories we’ll be watching closely today:

Daniel Negreanu and Player of the Year. Only two men–Daniel and Joe Pelton–are within a one-event reach of the PotY lead. Joe and present leader JC Tran aren’t here, so Daniel has a chance to make a move. A second-place finish here puts him in a tie for the lead; a win gives him the lead with one event to go.

Standing in Daniel’s way though is Erick Lindgren. One of Daniel’s closest friends in the game, E-Dog is sitting across the table eyeing the same chips Danny is. It’ll be interesting to see hat happens when they clash.

– Nenad Medic. Big Serb won the last time we were at Foxwoods and he’s been throwing the mney around ever since, joining the ranks of the biggest boys in poker. He’ll be looking for another strong showing here.

– The Nomads. A few players will be trickling into the room fresh from flights from Monte Carlo. Barry Greenstein and Victor Ramdin have paid their entries, while Eugene Todd is already here. More on Eugene in a later post.

– The Ladies. Mimi Tran and Kathy Liebert both final tabled the World Poker Finals the last time we were here. They’re both in attendance today eying the new standard for women set by JJ Liu at Bay 101 Shooting Stars.
