Boom! Bang! Duhamel Hammers Two And Hits The Top!

Nov 26, 2011

Did we just say that Jonathan Duhamel has suffered the worse possible start? What the hell do we know! We had just finished writing up the hand where Duhamel lost 115,000 to Giuseppe Zarbo. We walk back out into the tournament area and Duhamel has more chips that a fish and chip shop! This is how it all happened.

Hand 1

Mohammed Hossam raises to 11,000 in early position and three people call (Surinder Sunar – HJ, Yann Enzinger – Button and Duhamel BB). The flop is [Jc] [9d] [4d] and the flow of the play checks to Sunar who bets 33,000. Enzinger folds his hand before Duhamel raises it up to 70,000. Hossam folds and Sunar moves all-in for around 140,000 and Duhamel calls. The Canadian tables [Jx] [9x] for top two pair and Sunar has [Qx] [Qx] for the over-pair. The turn bricks off and the river is a [Jx] handing Duhamel a full house, which eliminates Sunar in the process.

Hand 2

Chris Lastiwka is seated behind 80,000 and raises to 10,000 in early position. The play folds around to Duhamel, who is still stacking his chips in the small blind, and he looks at his cards before announcing he is all-in. Lastiwka calls very quickly and we have another showdown. Lastiwka is holding [Ad] [Kh] and Duhamel is holding [Ts] [8s]. The flop of [Js] [6s] [2d] hands Duhamel the flush draw and the [7s] seals the deal. The river [8c] is irrelevant as Lastiwka has already joined Sunar on the rail.

Duhamel is now up to 550,000 and is much happier despite still being a little irate at the Zarbo sunglass incident.
