Before play started we caught up with American WPTDS regular Brian Reinert to see how he was enjoying his time here at PMU.fr WPTDeepStacks Deauville.

“I love it here,” said Reinert, “The hotel is beautiful; it’s stunningly beautiful. I had a great meal last night – awesome French food which I love. I was a little off-kilter yesterday, especially getting in with the time change.”

Reinert was eliminated early on Day 1a, but is back to play Day 1b.

“Yesterday I ran into a sick hand. He played it perfectly but that happens. After I busted yesterday I went back, took a nap, and then came and played this little Survivor event in the evening.

“I like that there is just one rebuy. I think players like myself are at a serious disadvantage when you can fire six, seven, eight bullets in an event.

“I’m a businessman first and foremost, and even though I play a lot of poker, I have one foot in both communities. And I hear from a lot of recreational businessmen that used to play a lot of the events, even from my Atlanta community back home, none of them are playing those events anymore.”

Reinert was in Brussels for the last WPTDS (pictured above), cashing the Main Event, and says he enjoys travelling and playing poker at the same time.

“It’s just about much more than going to the same grind spots. I come to France maybe once or twice a year with business, but never to this part. I’m definitely having a look at Berlin for the WPTDeepStacks and the WPT European Championship.

“I’m maybe 90% sure I’m coming. I’ve only visited Germany once when I was younger, so it’d be nice to go again.”
