Cantu Flips Better To Double

Feb 28, 2016

Brandon Cantu
Two-time WSOP bracelet winner and former WPT Champions Cup winner Brandon Cantu returned for this Day 2 session under the 100,000 chip mark. Through the first hour of play, he remained under that number but in one of the last hands of Level 16, he flipped better than Hal Neeman to score a double.

In a button versus small blind encounter, Cantu got his final 91,000 chips in the middle with Club ASpade 9 and was flipping against Neeman’s Diamond 8Heart 8. The flip looked like it was going to go the big stack’s way after the Club QDiamond 7Spade 3 flop but Cantu shot into the lead after the Spade A fell on the turn.

The Club 10 completed the board and the double, pushing Cantu up near the 185,000 chip mark. That’s almost back to where Cantu peaked during Friday’s Day 1A session, as he was working 225,000 at the live streaming feature table and lost a few pots late to bag up a less than average stack.

Brandon Cantu – 185,000
Hal Neeman – 220,000
