Carlos Rodriguez vs. Omar Lakhdari

There’s a pile of chips already in the middle on a completed board reading and action is heads up between WPTDeepStacks champion Omar Lakhdari in the big blind and Carlos Rodriguez in the cutoff.

Lakhdari bets 250,000 and Rodriguez raises all in for Lakhdari’s remaining 700,000 effective. Lakhdari thinks, using two time extensions as he’s in the tank.

“I will show you,” says Rodriguez from across the table. Lakhdari confirms he hears correctly, and Rodriguez confirms. “If you fold,” he adds.

Lakhdari thinks for more than another minute, using two more time extensions while looking back at his cards several times. He then folds, asking Rodriguez to make good on his promise as he does.

“You first,” retorts Rodriguez. Lakhdari tells him that that was never part of the deal and asks him to show once more. Instead, Rodriguez tells Lakhdari to show once more, and Lakhdari does not comply. Rodriguez mucks without showing and Lakhdari sends his cards to the dealer face down as well, asking Rodriguez why he did not keep his word.

“Because I am a liar,” Rodriguez says.
