Champions Club Member Alexandre Gomes Bags Big on WPTDS Brussels Day 1b

Brazilian WPT Champions Club member Alexandre Gomes (pictured above) is safely through to Day 2 of the WPTDeepStacks Brussels Main Event after navigating 13 levels of play today.

Gomes, who won Bellagio Cup V back in July 2009 for his first WPT title and $1,187,670 in prize money, and bagged 148,300 in chips today, above average ahead of Day 2 tomorrow.

The chip leader is Roland Rozel with 196,200. Other big stacks include Gary Hasson (189,100), Olivier Lattrez (179,200) and Ondrej Drozd (172,800).

Leonardo Armino

Also advancing is last year’s runner-up Leonardo Armino (pictured above) who said that a “not so tough” table helped him to “cruise along” during today’s play.

“I love playing here,” said Armino. “I’ve been coming here for four or five years. I like to play here because I like the city, I like the atmosphere. It’s one of my top stops.”

Armino bagged 98,900 in chips and will be joined by Sander van Wesemael (155,000), Raoul Refos (131,400), Michel Leibgorin (129,500), Dominique Terzian (122,200), Jean Montury (73,000), Kalidou Sow (55,000) and Jonathan Abdellatif (31,800) in Day 2.
