Chance Kornuth Eliminated by Cornel Cimpan

Chance Kornuth

Chance Kornuth (pictured) raises from the hijack to 6,500, and WPT Champions Club member Cornel Cimpan calls from the cutoff. The flop comes AsKh6s, Kornuth checks, Cimpan bets 7,000, and Kornuth check-raises to 19,500. Cimpan calls. The turn is the 7s, putting three spades on the board, and both players check.

The river is the Qs, Kornuth bets 12,000, and Cimpan moves all in for about 73,000. Kornuth is slightly covered, and he tanks for a while before another player calls for a clock. Kornuth is given one minute to act on his hand, and as the floorperson is counting down the final seconds, Kornuth announces a call and turns over Ah6d for two pair, aces and sixes. But Cimpan shows KsKc for a flopped set of kings that rivered the nuts — a king-high flush. Cimpan wins the pot to eliminate Kornuth from the tournament.
