ClubWPT Qualifier John Thompson Eliminated by Harjinder Chawla

Tony Dunst raises from the cutoff to 1,000, ClubWPT qualifier John Thompson calls from the button, Harjinder Chawla calls from the small blind, and the big blind also calls.

The flop comes , and it checks to Thompson, who bets. Chawla check-raises, and the big blind and Dunst both fold. Thompson reraises, and Chawla four-bets it to 27,000.

Thompson misinterprets the four-bet as an all-in, and he says, “Call” and turns over . But both players still have chips behind, so the dealer clarifies the situation. The betting has been completed on the flop, and action will continue to the turn with Chawla knowing Thompson’s holecards.

The turn card is the , and Chawla moves all in. Thompson calls with his , but Chawla turns over for a set of nines.

Thompson needs to catch an ace on the river to stay alive, but the river card is a blank, and Chawla wins with his set of nines to eliminate Thompson.
