Roller coaster Day 2 ends with Dan Smith on top again

The most expensive tournament of the WPT World Championship Festival at Wynn Las Vegas is one step closer to crowning a winner. With a price tag of $1,000,000, some of the biggest names showcased their skills in The WPT Big One for One Drop in a field of 17 entrants. Only six of them remain, all vying to claim a portion of the $15,810,000 prize pool but only the top four spots will get paid a seven-figure payday:

1st Place. $7,114,500
2nd Place. $4,663,950
3rd Place. $2,806,750
4th Place. $1,224,800

Dan Smith topped the leaderboard on Day 1 and stayed ahead of the pack once more after a roller-coaster day. He was responsible for the elimination of Adrian Mateos to conclude the action for the evening and bagged up 4,865,000. Second in chips is former soccer player Mario Mosboeck with 3,340,000.

There will be 23 minutes left on the clock for level 15 with blinds of 40,000-80,000 and a big blind ante of 80,000. Mikita Badziakouski has the button and enters the six-handed showdown third in chips with 2,935,000, which is good enough for 37 big blinds.

Isaac Haxton (2,570,000), Santhosh Suvarna (1,845,000), and Nick Petrangelo (1,445,000) complete the final table line-up. The final day is scheduled to play down to a winner as of 4 p.m. local time on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. It will feature one of the most expensive bubbles in live poker for the current year and the WPT live stream with cards-up coverage will air on a security delay of 30 minutes.
