Darren Elias Wins Record-Tying Third WPT Title in Fallsview Poker Classic Main Event

Feb 24, 2017

Darren Elias

Hand #71 – David Eldridge moves all in for his last 400,000 or so and Darren Elias calls. Eldridge shows Club 10Spade 9 and Elias has Heart JClub 6.

The Heart KDiamond 10Club 5 flop pairs up Eldridge and he takes the lead in the hand, but the Club Q on the turn does give Elias an open-ended straight draw.

Elias hits his straight when the river brings the Heart 9 and the poker pro proves once again why he is called the End Boss with a remarkable final few hands at the final table to propel him to a record-tying third WPT title.

Eldridge finishes runner-up and collects CAD $300,982 for his efforts. Elias will take home CAD $429,384 in cash and prizes, including a commemorative Champions Cup to go on his shelf with the rest of his, a seat into the season-ending $15,000 buy-in Tournament of Champions at Seminole Hard Rock, and the bragging rights of being one of only five players with three WPT titles.

The win also puts Elias in second place in the Hublot WPT Player of the Year race behind current frontrunner Benjamin Zamani, which means both will be jockeying for points when the California Swing begins on Saturday.

Here are the final table results:

1st: Darren Elias – CAD $429,384
2nd: David Eldridge – CAD $300,982
3rd: Jean-Christophe Ferreira – CAD $193,583
4th: Andrew Chen – CAD $143,199
5th: Manig Loeser – CAD $107,399
6th: Abdull Hassan – CAD $86,184
