Dealer Error Gets Steve Levy Some Action

Aug 21, 2010

With the board reading [Jd5c4h], the player in the big blind bets 800, Shane Schleger raises to 2,300, and Steve Levy makes it 4,800 to go.

The player in the big blind asks the dealer how much it is and the dealer incorrectly informs him the raise is to 2,800.  A floorperson is called over and the floor decides that, even though it is a dealer error, it is the player’s responsibility to pay attention to the action and he should realize that facing a raise to 2,300 and a reraise that the reraise has to be greater than 2,800.  The player is forced to call while Schleger folds.

The river brings the [2d] and the big blind checks.  Levy moves all-in, having his opponent’s remaining 10,550 covered.  The other player calls instantly and tables [3d5d] for a straight.

"That’s good, I think," Levy says as he mucks his cards.

Levy heads to the second round of the dinner break with 8,000 chips.
