Aleksandr Shevlyakov raises from the button to 6,500, three-time WPT champion Eric Afriat calls from the small blind, and the big blind calls.

All three players check to the turn on a board of Spade AHeart 3Spade 2Heart 5, and Afriat bets 5,000. The big blind calls, and Shevlyakov raises to 20,000. Afriat quickly calls, and the player in the big blind tanks for a while before he folds.

The river card is the Diamond 4, purring a five-high rainbow straight on the board. Afriat checks, Shevlyakov bets a stack worth about 65,000, and Afriat snap-calls with Spade 3Club 3 — he flopped a set, but he’s playing the straight on the board.

Shevlyakov turns over Heart ADiamond 9 for a flopped pair of aces, and he’s also playing the straight on the board. It’s a chopped pot.

Afriat smiles and jokingly asks, “Why are you trying to take my chips like that?”
