Firat Beltaci took hold of the chip lead early on, and held it right until he put those chips in the bag on a monster Day 1B of the WPTDeepStacks Netherlands Main Event.

Beltaci will be taking a stack of 340,300 forward to Day 2, after a day of being among the chip leaders, if not outright. He narrowly failed to eclipse the 350,100 of Jer El Salsero who finished as Day 1A chip leader.

“I started on a very easy table; always three-betting or four-betting and that’s where I got my chips. Then I came here and just kept hold of my stack.

“I’ve been big stack early on quite often at Holland Casino events; I play quite aggressively so that’s probably why. But I know that you can also lose big pots as well as win them when you play like me.”

Today also saw some familiar faces take to the felt. Thijs Menco, Mark Vanderloo, Tobias Peters and Kees van Brugge all fired again following disappointing Day 1As. They were joined by the likes of Govert Metaal and Raoul Refos, after their High Roller exploits.

Sadly for Menco (pictured above) he wouldn’t be adding to his WPTDS Amsterdam win, as he bust shortly before the end of the day when his eights failed to hold against his opponent’s Ace-Jack.

Also in the Main Event field today was Alberto Stegeman (pictured below), who finished ninth in WPTDS Amsterdam earlier this season. Stegeman said that he hadn’t managed to play all that much since his final table in the Dutch capital earlier this year, be he blew away the cobwebs and bagged 46,500 chips.

Another player returning to the WPTDeepStacks tables was Elizabeth Tedder (pictured below). Tedder final-tabled the WPTDS Marrakech Main Event last week and, instead of flying home as planned, she turned up to fire in Day 1B of the WPTDS Netherlands Main Event. She will be taking 59,900 chips forward to Day 2 in pursuit of back-to-back deep runs.

The total number of entries was confirmed today, with 251 entrants making this the second-largest single re-entry WPTDeepStacks Main Event this season, behind only the 266 entrants that WPTDS Cannes attracted.

A total of 52 players will join the 27 players from Day 1A in the Day 2 field which starts at 14:00 local time. The prizepool and payouts are yet to be confirmed, but we will let you know them as soon as we get them.

The levels will increase to 60-minutes in length tomorrow, which will allow players extra time to plot their course to victory!
