Hand #135: Roy Winston Wins the WPT Borgata Poker Open ($1,575,280)

Sep 20, 2007

Hand #135 – Roy Winston has the button, he limps for 300,000, Yoon raises to 1 million, and Winston calls. The flop comes [Qd6h4d], Yoon checks, Winston bets 1 million, Yoon thinks for a minute before he raises to 3 million, Winston moves all in, and Yoon immediately calls with [AsKh] for ace high. Winston shows [4h4s] for a set of fours, and Yoon needs a jack and a ten (for a straight) to survive.

The turn card is the [2d], and Yoon is drawing dead. (The meaningless river card is the [7c].) Roy Winston wins the pot — and the tournament — with a set of fours.

Heung “Scott” Yoon finishes in second place, earning $832,725. That’s a hell of a return for a $240 satellite entry.

At just past midnight, Roy Winston wins the WPT Borgata Poker Classic, earning $1,575,280, a silver watch, and entry into the Season VI WPT World Championship in April, 2008.
