Hand #19: Steve Buckner Accidentally Gives James Mackey a Gift By Showing His Cards

HAND #19  –  Chance Kornuth raises from the hijack to 150,000, Steve Buckner calls from the small blind, and James Mackey calls from the big blind.

Both players check to the turn on a board of , and Buckner bets 500,000. Mackey calls, and Kornuth folds.

The river card is the , and Buckner moves all in for 1,425,000. Mackey goes into the tank for longer than 30 seconds, and when the buzzer goes off to indicate his time has elapsed, Mackey tosses in one of his Time Chips for an additional 30 seconds.

However, Buckner thinks it is a regular chip to indicate a call, so he turns over his cards, which appear to be (two pair, tens and deuces). Seeing Buckner’s hand, and knowing he can’t beat it, Mackey quickly folds.

Buckner takes the pot, repeatedly saying that his error cost himself another 1.4 million in chips.
