Hand #37: Dwyte Pilgrim Wants to Know His Options

Sep 22, 2010

Hand #37 – Jeff Papola raises to 250,000 from middle position and Kia Mohajeri calls behind him.  Dwyte Pilgrim is in the big blind and calls as well.  The flop comes [7c4c4s] and Pilgrim checks.  Papola bets 375,000 and Mohajeri starts to think.  Pilgrim starts to put in the chips to call, unaware that Mohajeri still has a hand.

Pilgrim pulls his chips back and asks the dealer about what his options are.  "If he changes the action, I can change my action, right?"

The dealer tells him that is the case.  Mohajeri folds and Pilgrim is required to call.  Both players check after the [Ac] comes on the turn.  The river is the [2h] and Pilgrim bets 450,000.  Papola calls and mucks when Pilgrim shows [4d8d] for trip fours.

Dwyte Pilgrim – 6,400,000 (53 big blinds)
Jeff Papola – 2,900,000 (24 big blinds)

After the hand, Daniel Makowsky seeks some clarity on the ruling.  The dealer explains that if Mohajeri chooses to call or fold, that Pilgrim is required to call.  However, if Mohajeri raised, Pilgrim would have been allowed to call, raise or fold.
