Hand #72: Farid Yachou Wins the Monster WPT Tournament of Champions!

Apr 24, 2016

Champion Farid Yachou

Vlad Darie raises to 50,000, and Farid Yachou (pictured) calls.

The flop comes Heart 8Heart 2Club 2, Yachou checks, Darie bets 50,000, and Yachou check-raises to 250,000. Darie tanks for nearly 30 seconds before he calls.

The turn card is the Club 10, Yachou bets 200,000, and Vlad Darie thinks for a while before he calls.

The river card is the Diamond 8, and Yachou moves all in for 1,585,000, easily covering Darie’s stack. Darie thinks for about 20 seconds before he calls with Club KDiamond 7 for the two pair on the board with a king kicker.

But Farid Yachou turns over Spade ADiamond 2 to win the pot — and the inaugural Monster WPT Tournament of Champions — with a full house, deuces full of eights.

Vlad Darie finishes as the runner-up, earning $224,190.

Farid Yachou wins the Monster WPT Tournament of Champions, earning $381,600. His prize money includes his $15,000 entry into next season’s WPT Tournament of Champions.
