Hand #80: David Sands Triples Up

Feb 28, 2012

Hand #80  –  David Sands moves all in under the gun for 840,000, Allen Carter moves all in over the top from middle position for 1,450,000, and Dan Kelly moves all in over the top of them both from the button for about 4 million. Everyone else folds.

Here are the cards in descending order of chip counts:

Dan Kelly:  [10c10s]
Allen Carter:  [QcQs]
David Sands:  [7d7s]

Carter is the favorite to win, which would double him up and eliminate Sands on the TV bubble. But that’s not how things would turn out.

The board comes [8s7c5cKh2c], and Sands flops a set of sevens to win the main pot and triple up, while Carter picks up the side pot with his pocket queens. (Carter finishes the hand with fewer chips than he started.)

David Sands  –  2,850,000  (47 BBs)
Allen Carter  –  1,220,000  (20 BBs)
Dan Kelly  –  2,600,000  (43 BBs)
