Iulian Tataru Doubles Up Amidst Time Bank Confusion

Apr 14, 2024

Konstantinos Nanos raises to 70,000 in middle position and gets three-bet to 300,000 by Iulian Tataru who keeps 240,000 behind.

Nanos raises enough to cover the rest and Tataru then places eight 30-second time banks forward, insinuating that he’ll tank for four minutes before committing the rest of his chips.

Midway through the four minutes, Tataru takes back four of the time banks and places in the rest of the chips. Whether he’ll be able to keep them will be discussed after the runout of the board.

Konstantinos Nanos: Spade JClub J

The dealer puts the Diamond 10 right in the window, followed by Diamond 9Club 3Diamond 7Diamond 5, giving Tataru a double-up.

However, a lengthy discussion follows about whether Tataru is entitled to take back some of his time banks, or whether they are committed, even though he only used two minutes worth of time.

Ultimately it is ruled that Tataru can indeed reclaim the unused time banks with staff explaining to the players that for future use, not do place multiple time banks forward as dealers will take them from players 30 seconds at a time if they do not place them forward themselves.

Play has since resumed at Table 10 with Tataru now holding twice as big a stack, and half as many time banks.

Iulian Tataru: 1,155,000 (38 bb)
Konstantinos Nanos – 830,000 (27 bb)
