Jack Sumner Wins K9s for Warriors Charity Event

Jack Sumner

While Day 1A of the WPTDeepStacks Main Event was in progress, bestbet Jacksonville hosted the K9s for Warriors charity event. The organization is the largest provider of service dogs for disabled American veterans. It had a great turnout and Jack Sumner (pictured) took the title after a heads-up deal with Mike Green.

The tournament entrants fired 155 rebuys to boost the money raised for the great organization while also pushing the prize pool higher. Besides entries and rebuys, bestbet Poker show host Allie Hollander donated money while she was still playing the Main Event which prompted several others to do the same. They combined to raise nearly $17,000 for K9s for Warriors, enough to provide a service dog to a wounded American service member.

The final table played out on the bestbetLive stream with four players getting paid. Lena Evans was the unfortunate bubble and they quickly went into heads-up play. Green and Sumner settled in for a long grind and eventually decided to split the remaining prize money down the middle. They each walked away with $1,400 and both earned seats into Day 1B of the WPTDeepStacks Main Event on Saturday. Sumner took the title courtesy of his chip lead and has a new trophy for his mantle.

Thank you to all the players who participated, Tito’s vodka for their sponsorship of the tournament, and bestbet Jacksonville for hosting the terrific event.
