The WPTDeepStacks LA $1,100 Main Event has come to a close and James Gorham has topped the field of 367 players to take home the top prize worth $,95,290 and the WPTDS trophy. This three-day tournament came to a conclusion on Tuesday evening after a quick final table decided the winner. Things did start a little slow before the first elimination of the day, and it was Keith Kwazar who hit the rail first in ninth place. Paul Chauderson (Eighth Place) and Jay Helfert (Seventh Place) fell in quick succession after that. Craig Berger started to pull away with the chip lead at this point in play.

Prashray Rai then doubled up twice to stave off elimination before William Zaiss was eliminated in sixth place. The last woman standing today was Dana Muse. She took fifth place after finishing as the runner-up in the WPTDS Central California Main Event just one month ago.

Chad Geske saw his tournament run come to an end in fourth place when his two pair fell against the straight of Berger, who further increased his chip lead before the start of three-handed play. James Gorham started the day with the lead though, and he reclaimed that lead after eliminating Prashray Rai in third place.

Gorham took 4,735,000 into the final match but Berger was close on his heels with 4,445,000. Play started slow between the final two players since the stacks were so evenly match but the fireworks eventually started. Gotham got low but he doubled up twice before the defining hand of the final match took place. Berger was dealt a Broadway straight but Gorham made a flush on the river to win the largest pot in the tournament.

Berger was crippled after that and he was all in a short time later with A-7, but Gorham did him one better with A-8. The final board fell 8-5-2-K-7 and that was it for Berger, his tournament run came to an end in second place. Gorham took home the top prize of $95,290, the WPTDeepStacks trophy, and a pair of Monster DNA headphones.
