John D'Agostino Eliminated in 14th Place ($28,351)

Sep 22, 2010

John D’Agostino moves all in under the gun for 860,000, and Brandon Novena calls from the button with [AcKs]. D’Agostino shows [Jd9d], and he’ll need to improve to stay alive.

The board comes [Ah7h3h10d2d], and D’Agostino catches a gutshot straight draw on the turn, but can improve no further. Novena wins the pot with a pair of aces to eliminate D’Agostino from the tournament.

D’Agostino falls a little bit short of his fourth televised WPT final table, and it would have been his third here at the Borgata.

At the next table, Christian Iacobellis leans back and says, "D’Agostino is gone? Who got his chips?" (The heads-up situation was remarkably low-key considering it involved the chipleader and the biggest name pro left in the field.)

When someone indicates that the chips went to Novena, Iacobellis says, "Of course they did. I should have known. What does he have now, like a baker’s dozen million chips?"
