Jonathan Roy Ends Day 1B w/ Lead at WPT Caribbean

Jonathan Roy 3 Day 1B has come to a close at the WPT Caribbean Main Event on the island of St. Maarten. There were a total of 61 entries today and 28 have advanced to Day 2 on Wednesday. They will join the 25 survivors from Day 1A, so we will have 53 players at the start of play on Day 2.

The total field size for the tournament is 118 players. The tournament staff will release the full official payout structure tomorrow, but we do know that the returning players will have to advance to the top 15 spots to make the money.

The chip leader at the end of Day 1B is WPT Champions Club member Jonathan Roy (pictured above) with 236,700. He played solid poker throughout Day 1B and took control of the chip lead for most of the day. Other top stacks were bagged up by Anthony Zinno (136,900), Fredric Maniez (128,900), Dan Murariu (111,500), and Mihai Manole (98,600).

Notables that advanced included Grant Lang, Allen Kessler, Darren Elias, Will Failla, Pieter de Korver, and WPT Caribbean defending champion Tony Dunst. The familiar faces that busted out of the tournament today were Season XII WPT Player of the Year Mukul Pahuja, Robbie Bakker, Jeremy Nock, and Martin Hanowski.
