Juan Gonzalez Leads Final 22 in WPT Uruguay Main Event

Just 22 players remain in the first-ever WPT Uruguay Main Event, presented by Brasil Poker Live, and those 22 will return to action today at 2 p.m. local time from Enjoy Punta del Este. The goal of the day will be to reach the televised WPT final table of six, and doing so will earn a player $21,075 in prize money.

The winner of this historic event is set to earn $109,860, and right now, entering Day 3, all eyes are on Argentina’s Juan Gonzalez and his leading stack of 1.312 million.

Two other players bagged more than 1 million chips at the end of Day 2, and that was Uruguay’s Brian Kaufman with 1.21 million and Chile’s Tomás Carvallo with 1.013 million. Kaufman is the most celebrated player remaining, boasting a career of more than $560,000 in live tournament earnings, according to HendonMob.com. He’s been on roll this year after placing eighth in the €1,100 buy-in PokerStars National Championship Barcelona event for €66,370 ($77,966) and fourth in the PokerStars Championship Barcelona €5,300 Main Event for €402,000 ($472,557).

The final 22 players will be back in action at 2 p.m. local time today. Guaranteed $4,465 already, they’re all vying for a prestigious place at the televised WPT Uruguay final table.
