Ken "Teach" Aldridge Doubles Up After an Early Stumble

Jul 11, 2021

Ken Aldridge

Ken “Teach” Aldridge lost nearly a third of his stack in the first 20 minutes or so when he ran into another player’s quads.

A short while later, after a flop of Club JClub 9Diamond 7, Aldridge checks the big blind, and the under-the-gun player bets 1,200. The UTG+1 player calls, the player in the cutoff calls, the player on the button calls, and Aldridge check-raises all in for 21,700.

The next two players fold, and the cutoff asks for an exact count and thinks for a while before he calls. The button folds.

Aldridge turns over Spade 10Club 8 for a flopped jack-high straight, and he needs it to hold to stay alive against his opponent’s Spade 7Heart 7 (set of sevens).

The turn card is the Heart 2, the river card is the Heart K, and the straight holds up for Aldridge to win the pot and double up in chips.
