After finishing fifth in the  WPT500 Las Vegas two years ago for $65,000, Nikita Luther returns to the final table today. Sitting third in chips when cards got back in the air, she’s looking for an even bigger finish.

When play wrapped up on Day 2, Luther spoke about having another opportunity at a WPT title.

“It feels amazing,” she said. “I made the final table two years ago and was chip leading. I actually have a monster stack right now. I got into a cooler spot there at the end to lose some chips, but I’m very happy with how I played.”

The winner takes home the Zynga Poker WPT500 trophy and $155,000 in cash. Luther, who hails from New Delhi, India, has more than $220,000 in live tournament winnings. She’s also been sponsored by Indian online poker site and WPT partner adda52.com for almost three years.

This final table appearance makes it three nice summers in a row not for Luther. In 2018 she and Giuseppe Pantaleo won the $1,000 Tag Team event at the World Series of Poker. She took home $87,902 and her first bracelet.

Luther began play in Day 1B and finished fifth in chips.

However, early on Day 2 at ARIA, a deep run didn’t seem possible.

“I was off to a really bad start,” she says. “I was down to less than 20 big blinds, but I fought through it. I got in one spot where I picked up Aces versus Kings. After that, it was no looking back.”

How would it be to finish the tournament and add a WPT500 title to her WSOP bracelet?

“That would be so surreal,” she says. “I think this one would be really special. I made the final table two years back and I’m so close to the WPT family because of my affiliation with add52. It would nice to bring one home.”
