Linas Balaisis All In for the Ante, Wins the Ante Back

Jun 26, 2018

Down to just 6,000 and in the big blind, Linas Balaisis is forced all in for the big-blind ante of 6,000. Since he is the only one who has anted, the best he can do on this hand is win back his ante.

Joseph Guarino raises under the gun to 14,000, and Cody Brinn calls from the small blind, creating a side pot of 28,000.

Both players check to the river on a board of Spade 9Spade 8Heart 6Club 4Diamond 10, and all three players turn over their cards:

Cody Brinn:  Diamond 2Club 2  (pair of deuces)
Joseph Guarino:  Spade AClub J  (ace high)
Linas Balaisis:  Club KDiamond 9  (pair of nines)

Balaisis wins the main pot (which is just the 6,000 ante) with a pair of nines to tread water with the same chip count he started the hand with. Brinn wins the much larger side pot with his pocket deuces.

Linas Balaisis  –  6,000  (1 bb)
Cody Brinn  –  450,000  (75 bb)
Joseph Guarino  –  330,000  (55 bb)
