Manfred Hermann Eliminated in 2nd Place ($87,615)

May 25, 2021

After several pots headed back and forth, Manfred Hermann remained at nearly the identical stack size. He then opens the button to 17.6 million with the Spade 9Heart 8 and Caio Pessagno calls in the big blind with Club JClub 3.

They are heading to the Diamond KHeart JDiamond 6 flop and Pessagno opts to check-call for 11.16 million. He also checks the Club 7 turn and Hermann now bets 44 million with his open-ender and gutshot.

Pessagno sticks around and that creates a pot worth 147.52 million to the Heart 4 river. Hermann has just shy of the pot size left behind and goes for it with a bet for all but the last five chips this time once Pessagno checks to him.

The Brazilian ponders about his decision and raises with the second pair and no kicker. Hermann calls it off for a fraction of the blinds with nine-high and becomes the runner-up finisher whereas Pessagno claims the final bounty of the tournament.

The gutsy move of Hermann backfires and he has to settle for second place. That comes with $25,481 in bounties and $62,136 in cash prizes.
