Mélanie Hafeli limps for 160,000, and Do Van Tung checks his option.

The flop comes Club AClub QDiamond J, Tung checks, Hafeli bets 300,000, and Tung check-raises all in for 1,855,000.

Hafeli calls with Heart AClub 2 for a pair of aces, and Tung turns over Spade QDiamond 8 for a pair of queens. Tung needs to improve to stay alive.

The turn card is the Club 4, the river card is the Diamond 5, and Mélanie Hafeli wins the pot — and the WPTDeepStacks title — with a pair of aces.

Do Van Tung finishes as the runner-up, earning €36,720.

As soon as the river card hits, Mélanie Hafeli leaps in the air with a fist pump, and run to her friends on the rail to celebrate. Do Van Tung joins in the applause, shouting, “Bravo! Bravo!” and then gave her a congratulatory handshake, followed by a smiling hug.

After the hug from Tung, Hafeli turns to her friends again and shouts, “Oh, mon dieu!” Then she lets out a brief scream of happiness, showing far more emotion than is usually seen at the end of a tournament, and it is a refreshing sight.

Mélanie Hafeli wins the WPTDeepStacks Sanremo, earning €57,081, which includes a €2,000 package (€1,500 buy-in plus €500 travel expenses) for the season-ending WPTDeepStacks European Championship. Hafeli also wins a WPTDeepStacks trophy, and earns 800 POY points in the WPTDeepStacks Player of the Year race.

Congratulations to Mélanie Hafeli!
