Michael Singh Takes a Chunk Out of Marvin Rettenmaier

Feb 13, 2015

Michael Singh limps in from early position, Shannon Shorr raises to 5,500 from the hijack, two-time WPT Champion Marvin Rettenmaier calls from the small blind, and Singh calls as well.

The flop comes 10spade5club3spade and action checks to Shorr, who bets 7,500. Rettenmaier check-raises to 22,000 total, Singh calls, and Shorr gets out of the way.

The turn brings the Jspade and Rettenmaier bets 23,600. Singh raises, making it 60,000 to play. Rettenmaier tanks for nearly five minutes before calling.

The river is the 8diamond and Rettenmaier checks. Singh announces he is all in for his remaining 50,000 or so. Rettenmaier tanks again and, at one point, pulls out the chips to call, eyeing Singh to gauge his reaction. After a couple more minutes of thought, Rettenmaier calls, leaving just around 35,000 behind.

Singh tables Aspade9spade for the nut flush, Rettenmaier mucks, and Singh takes the pot, jumping up near the top of the counts.

Michael Singh – 275,000
Marvin Rettenmaier – 35,000
