After the final three players exchanged blows back and forth for a little bit, Miguel Brañas (pictured) was eliminated in third place to set up heads-up play.

The blinds were up to 100,000-200,000 with a 25,000 ante, and Brañas raised all in for 1.45 million from the small blind. Juan Gonzalez made the call from the big blind with the Diamond QDiamond 5, and Brañas was at risk with the Club AClub J.

Despite going in with the best hand and flopping top pair on the Heart JHeart 9Spade 2 board, Brañas fell when the turn and river came with the Club 5 and Spade Q. Gonzalez finished with two pair, queens and fives, and Brañas was eliminated in third place.

Brañas took home a score of $49,475 for his efforts, leaving Kaue Vinicius De Souza and Gonzalez to battle for the first-ever WPT Uruguay title. Entering heads-up play, Gonzalez had 7.55 million in chips to De Souza’s 4.2 million.
