With play entering a crucial phase, only two hours of poker remain here on Day 1a. 66 are left, with the field expected to almost halve before we bag chips around 2.35am here at Nottingham’s Dusk til Dawn club.
One player who hasn’t hung around is Chris Sly. The Retford-based pro won his seat by finishing in the Top 100 in the Warm-Up, where he came 22nd. Jumping straight into the WPT-500, he ran pretty cold, until eventually trying to push an opponent off the pot on the river, his enemy making a thin call with bottom two pair with one of those pairs on the board. Tough spot. We’re sure we’ll see Chris back later in the week, with Day 1’s running from today right up to and including the Saturday turbo. Yes, that’s seven flights to enter, and if you want to, you hve the rebuy option. Making Day 2 is mandatory!
Alain Logbo got off to a flyer earlier, but the cash game pro has dwindled slightly, dropping from aroud 150,000 at his tournament high to 95,000. that’s still just about ahead of the average stack, so he won’t be panicking.
Yucel Eminoglu hasn’t panicked for a number of years, one feels, and he’s full of bonhomie right now, having run his earlier stack of 17,000 up to 97,000. Right back in it…
