Nice Start for Ryan Riess

Aug 23, 2014

The reigning WSOP Main Event winner Ryan Riess is one of the notable names in the Day 1A field.  He wastes no time raising to 250 from middle position on one of the first hands of the day.  The player on the button calls, as does the player in the big blind.

The trio of players check the [9c2d2h] flop.  The turn brings the [7d] and the player in the big blind bets 400.  Riess silently raises to 1,150, and the player on the button folds.  The player in the big blind takes a minute, then calls.

The river brings the [10c] and the player in the big blind checks.  Riess takes a minute before eventually betting 2,875.  His opponent asks for a count, takes a minute himself, then calls.

Riess tables [9s][9d] for a flopped full house, nines full of deuces. His opponent mucks and Riess takes the pot.

Ryan Riess – 35,500
