Patrick Serda Takes an Interesting Path to Double Thru Brian Altman

Patrick Serda (pictured) raises from UTG/hijack to 775,000, which is roughly two-thirds of his stack, and Brian Altman calls from the button.

The flop comes Club JClub 6Heart 6, and Serda thinks for a while before betting 395,000, leaving himself just two 5K chips behind. Altman thinks for a while before he calls.

The turn card double-pairs the board with the Spade J, and both players check.

The river card is the Club 2, and they check again. Altman shows Heart 5Diamond 5 for the two pair on the board with a five kicker — barely beating the board — and Serda gleefully turns over Spade 2Diamond 2 for a rivered full house, deuces full of jacks. Serda rubs his hands together as he caught a two-outer on the river to avoid a chop and get a full double-up.

Brian Altman  –  7,160,000  (72 bb)

“At least I saved five thousand,” says Altman.
