The S19 World Poker Tour World Online Championships (WOC) on partypoker has crowned another winner and it was once more a player from Brazil who went all the way. Poker has been booming in the South American powerhouse and two contenders were in the mix for the final table of Event #03 WPT500. When the dust had settled after a short-lived final day, it was Pedro Cavalieri who emerged as the eventual winner.

He came out on top of a field of 2,295 entries and claimed the lion’s share of the $1,147,500 prize pool after cutting a heads-up deal with Austria’s Thomas Hueber. Cavalieri entered the final table as the chip leader and remained in the top spot for the vast majority of the proceedings. His efforts were rewarded with a payday of $153,504 while Hueber claimed a consolation prize of $137,624.

Bernardo Soares finished in third place while the well-known Bulgarian poker pros Stoyan Obreshkov and Ognyan Dimov had to settle for fifth and seventh place respectively.

Another two familiar faces of the international poker scene were the first two finalists to depart. Stevan Chew lost a flip with ace-king against the jacks of Silvio Costa. Soon after, Maxi Lehmanski hit the rail when his ace-nine suited ended up second-best to the king-queen of Dimov.

The confrontation that heavily influenced the final outcome then took place right after the first break. In a battle first versus second in chips, Dimov four-bet jammed pocket jacks into the pocket kings of Cavalieri and was left with crumbs. The Bulgarian was felted soon after, followed by Samuel Kabelitz in sixth.

After a series of setbacks, Obreshkov was the joint shortest stack and lost a flip to Hueber, who emerged as the second in command. Cavalieri dominated the action with relentless aggression to pull further away and got there with ten-eight versus king-queen to eliminate Costa in fourth.

Three-handed play was a brief affair as Bernardo Soares three-bet jammed with ace-queen only for Hueber to isolate with ace-king behind and remain ahead thanks to his kicker advantage. Heads-up then started nearly even in chips and more than 70 big blinds deep, which prompted an ICM deal to soften the pay jump blow between Cavalieri and Hueber.

It was over soon after when the flopped two pair of Hueber with nine-six suited were counterfeited by pocket tens for an overpair, as the river paired up the board. Cavalieri earned the $10,000 on top that they were playing for and has been crowned as the newest WPT500 winner.
