Phil Ivey Wins Two In A Row

Hand #1: The board reads with three-way action including the big blind, a player in early position and WPT Ambassador Phil Ivey, who’s on the button. Action checks to Ivey and he bets 5,500, prompting a check-raise to 12,000 from the big blind. The early-position player thinks for a bit and finds a fold, and Ivey three-bet shoves for 70,500. The big blind goes into the tank and folds as well, earning Ivey the pot.

Hand #2: On the next hand, Ivey opens to 4,000 in the cutoff and action folds to Joey Gargiulo in the big blind.

“Why you gotta pick on my big blind?” says Gargiulo. “I call. And I’m gonna check in the dark.”

The flop comes and Ivey continuation-bets 3,500. Gargiulo calls, and both players check the turn.

The river falls the and Gargiulo announces a bet of 10,000. Ivey thinks for a bit and raises all in for 90,000. Gargiulo gives Ivey a smile and admits defeat, letting his cards go to earn Ivey his second pot in as many hands.
