Phurong Tu Nguyen Leads Player of the Festival Ranking

May 25, 2022

During the WPT Prime stop at the Crown Poker Club, each event will award points for players who finish in the money in any of the official tournaments. The points tally depends on the buy-in amount and total prize pool, and some restrictions apply.

For example, invitational, teams and events with restrictions for age, sex or other reasons are not considered eligible events and thus will not count towards Player of the Festival Points. All other events of the series will contribute towards the total tally however and 13 out of 22 tournaments have been completed so far.

As can be expected, many of those in contention for the top spot thus far hail from Vietnam and Phurong Tu Nguyen leads with 800 points closely followed by Duy Ho, a former runner-up of the WPTDeepStacks Vietnam Main Event. Japan’s Tomokazu Hattanda (450 points) and Christopher Mateo (425 points) are in the middle of the pack in the top 20 and another deep run during one of the Side Events or perhaps the inaugural WPT Prime Vietnam Main Event would shake up the leaderboard in their favour.

In the case of a tie on points, the following special tiebreaker rules apply:

1st tiebreaker: Most Titles
2nd tiebreaker: Most Final Tables*
3rd tiebreaker: Most In The Points
4th tiebreaker: Most $ Won*

*Only applies to results in the points

The ongoing Player of the Festival ranking will award a WPTPassport for a Main Tour entry of their choice worth up to USD 5,000. Several tournaments are about to wrap up in the following days including the Super High Roller, which contains numerous notables of the Asia-Pacific live poker circuit.
