PlayWPT/ClubWPT Player Fred Randall Takes His Shot at the Major Leagues of Poker

Frederic Randall

Fred Randall isn’t a professional poker player, and the way he describes it, he’s barely a recreational player. “Poker is just a little bit of a side hobby for me.”

Randall is retired, and gets his poker fix by playing online occasionally at ClubWPT.com and PlayWPT.com. But while he was playing on ClubWPT earlier today he decided to try something different — he drove down to the Commerce Casino to enter his first live poker tournament, and it’s the $10,000 buy-in WPT L.A. Poker Classic.

“Commerce is much bigger than I expected. It’s a nice place.”

Randall late-registered today, and found himself seated at the same table as last season’s LAPC champion, Dietrich Fast. Randall didn’t last very long, but he had a good time.

“This was fun. It was very interesting, and I got to play with some very good players — better than me. I got knocked out very quickly.”

It was an interesting experience for Randall, but he seemed to enjoy the comfort of playing online. “Action is very realistic on PlayWPT. There are bad beats and big wins. It’s fun to play in the tournaments.”

So you may not be seeing Randall back in a live WPT event anytime soon, but you might just bump into him on ClubWPT.com or PlayWPT.com.
