Ren Lin wins the WPT Alpha8 at Wynn Las Vegas

Ren Lin jams once more on the button and this time, Jason Koon calls. Koon needs help with Spade KSpade 6 versus Spade 7Club 7 and doubles the unlikely way with a straight on the Diamond 10Diamond 9Diamond 4Club 8Heart 7 runout.

Koon loses a small portion shortly after and then moves all-in for 2,350,000 on his button, Lin asks for a count which Koon instantly provides and then calls.

“If I win this one, I gonna win the whole thing,” Koon says with a smile on the face and Lin replies “so you gonna lose.”

The board runs out Heart QClub 5Spade 2Heart 7Diamond 10 and Koon fails to get there to become the runner-up finisher.

This brings an end to the WPT Alpha8 at Wynn Las Vegas $50,000 High Roller Event, which drew a total of 69 entries. The top nine finishers earned a share of the $3,346,500 prize pool.

Only 13 players returned for the final day and Alex Foxen became the bubble boy to set up the unofficial final table. Justin Bonomo became the next casualty in a field filled with big names of the international poker circuit. Ultimately, Lin and Koon ended up in heads-up, which lasted one hour during which the lead changed multiple times.

It was the first seven-figure cash for Lin, who takes home $1,045,781,000 for the efforts. Runner-up Koon has to settle for $669,300 to end the series at the Wynn Las Vegas with another stellar performance.
