Three players, including WPT Champions Club member Harrison Gimbel and Shooting Star Ankush Mandavia after each putting in 1,800 preflop. The flop comes Club 10Club 9Spade 6 and all three players check. The turn is the Spade 2. Gimbel bets 3,000 from the big blind, the middle-position player folds, and Mandavia calls in late position.

The river is the Spade 5. Gimbel bets 5,500 and Mandavia folds.

Mandavia is a Shooting Star after winning the California Swing last season. Mandavia won the leaderboard contest after finishing 23rd here at Bay 101 and eighth at WPT Rolling Thunder. The prize package included hotel stay and airfare for this season’s LA Poker Classic, Shooting Star status at Bay 101, and a suite and $500 room credit at Thunder Valley Casino during the Rolling thunder event.

This year, the California Swing contest is back with a similarly great prize package for the eventual winner. Here is a look at what they will receive:

1. During the 2018 WPT L.A. Poker Classic, the winner will receive up to six nights of complimentary accommodation at the Commerce Casino’s Crowne Plaza Hotel, and complimentary airport transfer from LAX or Burbank Airport.

2. During the 2018 WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star, the winner will be awarded Shooting Star status, and receive complimentary accommodation of up to $1,000 in value to attend the event.

3. During the 2018 WPT Rolling Thunder, the winner will receive up to five nights of accommodation, plus a $500 food and beverage credit for use during the event.
