Shooting Star Todd Brunson Doubles Thru Eddy Sabat

Todd Brunson

Shooting Star Todd Brunson (pictured) is all in from the small blind for about 13,000 with Heart 8Diamond 8, and he needs his hand to hold to stay alive against Eddy Sabat’s Spade KHeart 9 in the cutoff.

As the WPT television cameras get into position to record the action, Sabat says that the “I Busted Todd Brunson” shirt is the most desirable one, because Brunson is infamous for angrily signing his bounty shirts with profanity over the years. Sabat says he had a shot at Brunson’s t-shirt a couple years ago, but failed to win it.

The flop comes Heart QClub 10Club 5, and Brunson is relatively quiet as Sabat roots for the cards he needs.

The turn card is the Diamond 7, and Brunson is still ahead. Sabat says, “If I win on the river, that should be worth an extra curse word.” Brunson calmly replies, “I’m only signing my name, and nothing else.”

The river card is the Spade A, and Brunson loudly yells, “IN YOUR FACE! IN YOUR FACE!” as Sabat laughs. (It’s clearly all in good fun at this table.)

From another part of the room, Mike Matusow shouts, “Did Todd Brunson win that pot?”

Brunson wins the pot with his pocket eights to double up in chips.

Todd Brunson  –  28,500  (48 bb)
