The Tale of Tony "Gameboy" To, From 9K to 743K

Nov 17, 2015

Tony To

Tony To (pictured) was knocked all the way down to just 9,000 in chips — less than a big blind — and has mounted an impressive comeback since then.

In his first hand, he won a multi-way pot to quadruple up to 36,000 (less than two big blinds).

The next hand, To moved all in from the hijack for 33,000, Mads Fournaise reraised from the button to 76,000, and Kyle Bowker moved all in from the small blind for about 370,000. Fournaise folded (giving Bowker a small side pot), and To showed Spade JSpade 5. Bowker turned over Heart 7Diamond 7, and To needed to improve to stay alive.

The board came Diamond 10Diamond 4Spade 3Club AHeart J, and To paired his jack on the river to stay alive and double up in chips.

Kyle Bowker  –  370,000  (19 bb)

A short while later, Tony To (big blind) and A.J. Gambino (UTG) saw a flop of Heart KSpade 3Club 2. To got it all in for 91,000 with Diamond 6Club 6, and he needed his hand to hold to stay alive against Gambino’s Spade 5Heart 5.

The turn was the Diamond 2, the river was the Spade J, and To won the pot with two pair, sixes and deuces, to double up again.

A little while after that, Kyle Bowker raised from the hijack to 47,000, Trevor Delaney reraised from the button to 100,000, and Tony To moved all in from the big blind for 306,000. Bowker moved all in over the top for 332,000, and Delaney folded.

To turned over Spade ADiamond K, and he needed to improve to stay alive against Bowker’s Heart QClub Q.

The board came Spade KHeart KDiamond 4Club 10Heart 7, and To celebrated with a big fist pump as he said, “Yes! Gameboy is back!”

Kyle Bowker  –  26,000  (1 bb)

Unfortunately for Bowker, much of To’s comeback came at his expense, and now it’s up to Bowker to see if he can muster a comeback of his own.
