The WPTDeepStacks Player of the Year Will Be Either Albert Knafo or Andrew Ostapchenko

This is the last event for players to earn points in the WPTDeepStacks Player of the Year race, and there is only one player remaining who can pass current points leader Albert Knafo — Andrew Ostapchenko.

And Ostapchenko needs to win this event to do it.

If Ostapchenko wins this event, he will be the WPTDeepStacks North American Player of the Year, but if he finishes in any other spot — third, 15th, 54th — then Knafo will become the POY.

However, the top three finishers in the POY race all win prizes, so if Ostapchenko finishes second in this event, he will finish second in the Player of the Year race to win a nice prize. (It’s impossible for Ostapchenko to finish third, because he could only tie Jason Young’s points total, and Young would win the tie breaker with more money earned.)

So as long as Ostapchenko is still in the tournament, he can become the WPTDeepStacks North American Player of the Year. But the moment he is eliminated, the title will be officially won by Albert Knafo.
