Three British Pros Get a Taste of the WPTDeepStacks Action Here in Marrakech

It’s always great to see some international players at WPTDeepStacks stops, and tournaments in Amsterdam, Cannes and Vilamoura have showcased the DeepStacks’s international appeal. We caught up with three British players Will Davies, Guy Taylor and Anthony Wickert who have traveled to Marrakech for the WPTDeepStacks to ask them about their experience and what brought them all the way to this part of the world to sample the WPTDS atmosphere.

According to Davies (pictured above) it’s his third or fourth visit to Marrakech.

“They’ve all been really good fun; results-wise not great, but everything else is really good. There’s plenty to do in Marrakech, and the cash games are really good.”

“You also don’t really get to play anywhere with this kind of culture around you,” said Taylor (pictured above), “It’s a very ancient city. normally when you travel it’s the same sort of westernised casino and hotel environment.

“Here it’s very unique. If you’re into travelling and experiencing new cultures, then it’s great fun.”

One thing that all three praised as the quality of the DeepStacks side events. Wickert said that sometimes it’s just down to the variety of side events on offer.

“Some have different structures, some have different styles. Things like double chance, OFC, Ironman. Lots of satellites as well.

“You don’t get as many satellites elsewhere, and definitely not OFC events. The Ironman is completely new. With so many events it means you’re never not having a full day of poker which is quite good.”

Both Wickert (pictured above) and Davies cashed at the WPTNational Marrakech last year, and Davies said he welcomed the new DeepStacks brand.

“Structurally I know that the DeepStacks are similar,” said Davies.  “The staff and the dealers are the same; the floor are always really good, so you know it’s going to be well run.

“There’s also the free buffet on dinner. That’s a massive plus. That’ll be my highlight of the week, if I make it do a dinner break!
