Tomas Fara's Chasing The Poker Dream

Feb 21, 2016

You don’t see them too often – players who are used to playing $50 tournaments getting a chance to battle it out with the big names – but Czech Republic’s Tomas Fara has done really well for himself, making his way to numerous World Poker Tour events in the last two years.

On the most recent break we caught up with the Prague resident, who looks to live the dream.

“The ultimate goal is to make the money in a WPT, and do what the guy next to me did,” Fara said, seated to the left of WSOP Main Event winner Joe McKeehen.

Fara explained how he always tries to come to World Poker Tour events, “I play a lot of tournaments, because that’s the path to becoming a better player. I’m just trying to catch up with all these top players.”

The WPT here in Niagara Falls has drawn a crowd including lots of top pros, Champions Club members and WSOP bracelet winners, and Fara said, “It’s cool to play with those guys, and I still get starstruck a little bit sometimes, but I just try to play my best.”

Fara has yet to cash in a WPT Main Event, but he’s feeling good about this, “I’m counting on it, I’m cashing this event.”
