Tony Wasaya Takes Out Reigning Champ

Demo Kiriopoulos opens to 20,000 from the hijack and Tony Wasaya, on the button, makes it 45,000 to go. Reigning champ Craig Varnell pushes all in, totaling 145,000 in the small blind. Action fold back to Wasaya who snaps, putting Varnell at risk as the two take a showdown.

The dealer fans out  on the flop, leaving Varnell safe for the time being. An unfortunate card lands on the turn for the champ, having the peel off to give Wasaya the lead with his newly acquired pair of rockets.

A  river completes the board, putting the nail in the coffin of Varnell who is eliminated. Wasaya pulls in the chips, eclipsing the million mark for the first time today.
