The Great White North will play host to the World Poker Tour for the WPT Montreal Festival at Playground in Kahnawake, Quebec. In partnership with partypoker LIVE, the WPT Montreal Festival will host three major tournaments with the WPT500 Montreal, WPT Montreal, and WPTDeepStacks Montreal all taking center stage throughout the festival from October 20 – November 4.

Kicking off the WPT Montreal Festival is the WPT500 Montreal that features a CA$1 million guaranteed prize pool from October 25 – 29. This is the second stop on the WPT500 tour following the Zynga Poker WPT500 Las Vegas where Ben Farrell topped a 1,932-entrant field to collect the $155,000 first-place prize. At the end of the year, The Gardens Casino will host WPT500 Los Angeles, while in March, 2020, Casino Barcelona will host the final stop of the tour with the WPT500 Barcelona.

Last year was the inaugural running of the WPT500 Montreal, and it would be Miguel Goncalo (pictured below right) defeating Said El-Yousfi (pictured below left) heads-up to capture the CA$200,000 first-place prize over the 2,536-entrant field. Some of the notables finishing in the money included WPT Champions Club members Eric Afriat, Amir Babakhani, Mike Leah, Chanracy Khun, and Shawn Buchanan.

WPT500 Montreal Structure and Schedule
Following five Day 1 flights played online at partypoker, there will be eight Day 1 flights spread across three days to be played out at Playground. Each day will see a 12 p.m. (ET) and 5 p.m. (ET) flight, while on Saturday, October 26, and Sunday, October 27, there will be a turbo flight beginning at 10 p.m. each night.

Day 1C of the WPT500 Montreal will see players begin with 30,000 in starting chips and an unlimited re-entry format. Registration will close prior to the start of level nine (approximately 4:30 p.m. ET) and play will continue until the field reaches the money.. Levels will be 30 minutes in duration, and there will be no dinner break.

Across five online flights played on partypoker, a total of 50 players survived into Day 2. On the first day of play at Playground, 26 players from Day 1A and 18 players from Day 1B would survive into Day 2. Currently Day 1A chip leader Mathyeu Provost is the overall chip leader with 715,500 in chips and there are 94 players surviving into Day 2 of the 656 total entries.
