WPTDeepStacks returns to the beautiful capital of Germany, for the latest stop on this season’s tour, and the first on European soil in 2020.

Four days of Main Event action begin today at 4 pm local time, when players will descend on the historic Casino Spielbank Berlin in hope of taking home a share of the €500,000 guarantee.

Last year Thomas Hofmann (pictured) took down the title, the trophy, and €129,510 in winnings after beating Eldaras Rafijevas heads-up in a well-fought-out battle. Finishing atop of the 645-strong field netted the Swiss the biggest result of his poker career and he banked himself a place in the WPT record books to boot.

It all begins with Day 1a today and players receive 30,000 chips in exchange for their €1,200 buy-in. There are 12 40-minute levels on the clock and late registration closes at the start of Level 10 (around 10:45 pm). Breaks take place every two hours, at the end of every third level.

In total, 14 levels will be played this evening, with the clock due to pause at around 12:45 am.

For those who fail to find a bag at the end of the night, there is no need to despair – there will be two more starting flights to play and unlimited re-entries allowed in each, so countless opportunities to vie for the title.

Day 1b is an exact replica of today’s flight and will begin at 2 pm tomorrow, January 11. There will also be the third and final Day 1c flight kicking off at 10 pm tomorrow, featuring reduced 20-minute blind levels.

Once the Day 1s have wrapped, all those who have survived will combine to play Day 2 on Sunday January 12. That will start at 2 pm, with blinds increasing to 60 minutes long. Levels will continue to be one-hour long on the third and Final Day, that is until play reaches heads up when they will be reduced to 30 minutes.

Be sure to stay tuned to WPT.com for live coverage of all the action as it unfolds.
