Chen Ke finished runner-up to Pete Chen at the last WPT stop in Beijing, and is seated in the Main Event field today. He said that his friends loved the experience of watching him on the live stream.

“They were all watching the stream and yelling at the stream. There was one hand where I had Ace-Queen and my opponent had pocket Kings. They were all yelling, wanting an Ace going “Ace, Ace, Ace!

“So on Day 3 I was the chip leader, and my friend who lives in Luxembourg said that we should go to the PokerStars Championship Monte Carlo. But I wasn’t sure; maybe because I didn’t do very well at the PokerStars Championship in Macau. But he said ‘OK, if you make the final table we should go to Monte Carlo,’ and I said ‘OK.'”

However, things weren’t so easy for Chen Ke as he needed to apply for a visa. If he didn’t get it he would miss the Main Event.

“When I got it on the 29th April, I had to book my flights right away. I got off the plane and jumped right into the Main Event, and I finished 63rd.”

He’s now enjoying Amsterdam for the first stop on the WPT Europe season.

“I love this city a lot, and I’ll probably come back many times. I’m going to tell all my friends back in China how good the city is and how friendly the people are.

“People here are very happy. I will bring my friends here, not just to play poker but also travel and experience it for themselves.”
